Professional deck maintenance service

Having a professional maintain your deck gives you more time to enjoy it. We carefully consider important factors like the amount of foot traffic, how much sun & rain your deck is exposed to as well as other details to ensure your deck looks its best all year round.

Deck care made easy

If your planning on having Deckfix refinish your deck, you should also consider our personalised maintenance service.

Our harsh climate demands regular maintenance of your deck to keep it looking good, keep it safe and prolong it’s lifespan.  Progressive damage, caused by weathering, contaminants and wear & tear should be regularly checked and maintenance coats applied as needed to avoid costly damage.

We recommend you regularly sweep away dirt and debris with a soft broom and clean any spills or bird droppings as soon as practical to minimise damage to your finish.  Your deck should also be scrubbed with a soft broom and gentle cleanser every 3 – 4 months to wash away dirt and contaminants trapped in the finish or wood grain.  At that time your deck should be carefully inspected for any damage, loose fixings or signs of weathering.

Deckfix specialise in a range of timber deck services.  We can repair & rejuvenate as well as tailor a maintenance plan to suit your specific needs.  Reach out for an obligation free quote and simplify your decks maintenance.

FAQ’s

Why is it important to maintain my deck?

Regular maintenance keeps your deck looking great, avoids costly damage and keeps it safe.  Minor issues progress to larger ones when not appropriately attended to.

1. Fading or Peeling

If your deck is looking a little dull and worn it’s usually a sign that the protective seal has begun to deteriorate.  Re-sealing before severe fading or peeling has occurred can avoid the need to sand back the entire deck to remove surface damage.

2. Surface Damage

Splintering, scratches or deep stains usually require the surface to be sanded back to remove the imperfections before applying the appropriate sealer.  Splinters and minor cracking signify that the timber has become brittle which can lead to the timber splitting if not promptly attended to.

3. Loose fixings, unstable boards or railings

Urgent attention is needed when this occurs as it indicates that repairs are needed to address a range of safety concerns.  Any loose nails or screws should be properly refastened or replaced and the deck inspected for any missing fasteners or damage such as split timber, rot or insect infestation.

Can you take over the maintenance of my deck?

A maintenance plan is not offered for decks that we have not refinished as we can’t be sure of the products used and can’t guarantee the results.  We can however remove your old stain, oil or coating and freshly refinish your deck in a choice of quality recommended finishes.

As part of our restoration or staining & oiling services, we advise you of the steps needed to maintain and preserve your deck.  You may choose to do it yourself or we can customise a maintenance plan to suit your needs.
